2014 7th-round pick

Ottawa Senators get

Bobby Ryan (Forward)

Anaheim Ducks get

Jakob Silfverberg (Forward)

Stefan Noesen (Forward)

2014 1st-round pick

Erik Condra, Matt Kassian, Jason Spezza, Kyle Turris, Marc Methot, Chris Phillips, Erik Karlsson, and Bobby Ryan all on the same team?? yea Ottawa wins hands down. They will definitely be cup contenders this season.

Calagary Flames get

Kris Russell (Defenceman)

St. Louis Blues get

2014 5th-round pick

I can’t talk about this trade without laughing. The Flames could have waited and picked Russell up on waivers instead of trading away a draft pick. Smooth.

Dallas Stars get

Shawn Horcoff (Forward)

Edmonton Oilers get

Philip Larsen (Defenceman)

2016 7th-round pick

WINNER: Dallas

As long as the Stars don’t trade anyone they acquired this week the Stars will win every trade they go into.

July 4th 2013

Minnesota Wild sign

Keith Ballard

Not even a full 24 hours after the Vancouver Canucks bought out Ballard’s contract the Wild signed him to a two year deal. Ballard seems to be on the decline so i’m not sure the Wild is going to benefit from this signing.

Montreal Candiens sign

Danny Briere

The Flyers bought out Briere’s contract and the Habs have signed him for 2 years. Here’s wishing all the best to Briere.

Boston Bruins get

Loui Eriksson (Forward)

Reilly Smith (Right Wing)

Matt Fraser (Right Wing)

Joe Morrow (Defenceman)

Dallas Stars get

Tyler Seguin (Forward)

Rich Peverley (Center)

Ryan Button (Defenceman)

WINNER: Dallas Stars

Loui Eriksson could come into his own in Boston or he could flounder. Seguin and Peverley have both been solid players for the Bruins. They show up when you need them the most.

July 2nd 2013

Philadelphia Flyers sign

Vincent LeCavalier.

Tampa Bay buys out Lecavalier’s contract and within a week Philly offers him an almost identical contract. I’m not sure how Philly is going to get a goalie and a few other fill in players now that they’ve signed Lecavalier. At least we know he will perform well with Giroux.  This season should be interesting for Philly.

Calgary Flames get

Rights to TJ Galiardi (Forward)

San Jose Sharks get

2015 4th round pick

WINNER:Calgary Flames

The Flames need a solid forward and that is what they get with Galiardi.

Tampa Bay Lightning get

Rights to Drew Olson (Defenceman)

Columbus Blue Jackets get

Future Considerations

Wish I could have seen Olson play but he went to college instead. Not quite sure how he’ll do in the NHL but I’m excited to see how he turns out. Unfortunately, it will be on another team.

New York Rangers get

Danny Kristo (Forward)

Montreal Canadians get

Christian Thomas (Forward)

July 1st 2013

Philadelphia Flyers get

Kris Newbury (Forward)

New York Rangers  get

Danny Syvret (Defenceman)

June 30th 2013

New York Rangers get

Justin Faulk (Defenceman)

Minnesota Wild  get

Benn Ferriero (Forward)

2014 6th-round pick

WINNER:New York Rangers

Justin Faulk is the man. One of America’s finest. The end.

San Jose Sharks get

Tyler Kennedy (Forward)

Pittsburgh Penguins get

2013 2nd Round Pick  (traded to Columbus Blue Jackets)

Basically the Penguins gave Tyler Kennedy away for nothing. Hopefully they picked up a decent forward who they can mold to take over in the next few years.

New Jersey Devils get

Cory Schneider (Goalie)

Vancouver Canucks get

2013 1st round pick (Bo Horvat : Center)

WINNER:Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks got rid of their goalie drama and picked up a great Center all in my trade. I predict that you will see Bo Horvat playing on the second line come opening night.

Minnesota Wild get

Nino Niederreiter (Forward)

New York Islanders get

Cal Clutterbuck (Forward)

2013 3rd-round pick (Eamon McAdam: Goalie)

WINNER:Minnesota Wild

Minnesota is in desperate need of a healthy goalie. Although Harding is a phenomenal goalie a team cannot depend on a man with MS to carry the team on his back. Backstrom is also a decent goalie but is now injury prone. The Wild did a great job of deciphering what they needed on their team while the Islanders gave up their only decent goalie.

Carolina Hurricanes get

Andrej Sekera (Defenceman)

Buffalo Sabres get

Jamie McBain (Defenceman)

2013 2nd round pick (JT Compher : Center)

Toronto Maple Leafs get

Dave Bolland (Forward )

Chicago Blackhawks get

2013 2nd round pick (Carl Dahlstrom: Defenceman)

2013 4th round pick (traded to San Jose)

2014 4th round pick

Unlike a few other players on the Blackhawks, Bolland showed up in full force for the playoffs. He’s great but not the player he used to be.

Winnipeg Jets get

Michael Frolik (Forward)

Chicago Blackhawks get

2013 3rd round pick (John Hayden: Right Wing)

2013 5th round pick (Luke Johnson : Center)

WINNER: Winnipeg Jets

Hands down Winnipeg wins this trade. Taters , as Frolik is lovingly referred to by Chicago fans, will definitely be missed on and off the ice. He makes plays happen when the team needs them the most.

June 27th 2013

Colorado Avalanche get:

Alex Tanguay (Forward)

Cory Sarich (Defenceman)

Calgary Flames get:

David Jones (Forward)

Shane O’Brien (Defenceman)

WINNER: Calgary Flames

The Flames need new blood and to fill the Iginla sized hole they have on their team.

June 23rd 2013

LA KINGS  get  :

Ben Scrivens (Goaltender)

Matt Frattin (Forward)

Second round pick in 2014 or 2015 draft

Toronto Maple Leafs  get:

Jonathan Bernier (Goaltender)

Hands down the LA Kings win this trade battle. The Toronto Maple Leafs were not in need of a goalie. They lack depth everywhere else. If they want to make another play-off run they need to focus on getting defensemen and forwards who can help protect/attack the net.

Remember, Remember the fifth of Movember.

For Phil Kessel Movember is more than mustaches and fundraisers. Movember is a reminder of his battle with cancer. During Kessel’s rookie year he was diagnosed with Testicular cancer. Most people would take a day off of work after finding out such stressful news. Phil Kessel did no such thing. Shortly after being diagnosed Kessel played in a 5-1 loss against New Jersey at home. Three days later he had surgery to remove his right testicle. Kessel was lucky. Further tests showed the cancer was confined to the removed testicle. After a two week  rehabilitation period Kessel was back on the ice and finished the season with 11 goals and 29 points. He also became the first NHL rookie to win the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

Kessel might not have made history if he didn’t go to the doctor. Many men find out they have cancer too late. Don’t be afraid to go to the doctor. We can’t always stop cancer from taking form but we can keep it from spreading. Take a word of advice from what Kessel said to ESPN in 2006, ” If you’re not feeling well go get checked out and make sure you’re all right.”

It’s never to late to fight cancer. Please Join the Battle and donate to help put an end to Testicular and Prostate cancer here.
